The National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) is the union for professional basketball players in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Established in 1954, the NBPA’s mission is to protect and advance the rights of our players. They are the game.

The NBPA advocates on behalf of the best interests of all NBA players, including through negotiating collective bargaining agreements, filing grievances on behalf of players, and counseling players on benefits and educational and post-NBA career opportunities. POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Manager, Player Engagement is a player-facing role responsible for delivering value-added services. This role will ensure that the NBPA new Los Angeles basketball facility is the preferred offseason destination for players and their stakeholders, by delivering players high touch basketball operations support, while cultivating key relationships across the basketball industry to enhance the player experience with a focus on offseason training.

LOCATION: Remote with travel to NYC & Los Angeles required

DEPARTMENT: Player Experience

REPORTS TO: Sr. Director, Player Engagement

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

  • Grow player utilization of NBPA value-added services, maintaining the highest standards for the player experience.
  • Support in enhancing player utilization of NBPA services through curated experiences and streamlined outreach.
  • Maintain and update CRM data with accurate records of player interactions, ecosystem mapping, and engagement history.
  • Manage and update the player engagement calendar, aligning touchpoints with seasonality, player availability, and emerging trends.

QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in player services, athlete engagement, sports operations, talent management, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience operating in a multicultural, diverse, and fast-paced environment.
  • High emotional intelligence and ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong understanding of basketball operations, offseason training ecosystems, and the performance needs of professional players.
  • Experience curating high-touch, personalized experiences that drive engagement and repeat utilization.
  • Ability to thrive in a highly autonomous, in-market role while maintaining strong alignment with centralized teams and leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience working directly with professional athletes, teams, leagues, unions, or elite performance environments.
  • Knowledge of CRM platforms or similar engagement-tracking tools.
  • Foreign languages is a plus
