Role Description
This full-time position is remote. We are seeking an experienced, enthusiastic Full-Time College Counselor to join our growing team. This individual will guide high school students (Grades 9–12) through the entire college planning and admissions process — from academic planning and identity development through application strategy and matriculation. This role requires a strong foundation in admissions consulting, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset ready to thrive in CFP’s mission-driven, supportive environment.
As a Full-Time College Counselor, you will:
Student & Family Counseling
- Build trusting, meaningful relationships with students and families.
- Develop personalized college plans that reflect students’ strengths, passions, and goals.
- Provide one-on-one guidance from freshman year planning to senior year execution.
Application Strategy & Execution
- Assist students with college research, list development, and application strategy.
- Guide students through essays, resumes, supplements, interviews, and portfolios.
- Help manage timelines, deadlines, and submission logistics.
Academic & Extracurricular Planning
- Advise on course selection, standardized testing timelines, extracurricular engagement, and leadership opportunities.
- Support students in aligning their high school experiences with college and career goals.
Collaboration & Team Engagement
- Participate in regular team meetings, professional development, and CFP curriculum refinement.
- Share insights with colleagues to strengthen best practices and client outcomes.
- Support CFP initiatives on inclusivity, equity, and student empowerment.
Continuous Learning
- Stay up-to-date on admissions trends, college policy changes, and best practices in holistic counseling.
- Contribute to CFP content, resources, workshops, and parent/student education.
Qualifications
- Experience in College Counseling and knowledge of College Applications processes: Experience in leadership, classroom counseling, independent consulting, or admissions office work is highly valued.
- Proficient in providing guidance to High School Students and assisting with Student Counseling: understand that college success is multifaceted — encompassing identity, fit, goals, resilience, and community.
- Possesses strong strategic and analytical thinking: interpret student profiles, identify strengths, and tailor plans that maximize outcomes.
- Familiarity with Student Financial Aid policies and resources
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to connect with students and families
- Ability to work collaboratively with educational professionals
- Master's degree in Counseling, Education, or related field
- 3+ years of experience in an educational or counseling role
- Familiarity with tools like Common App, Naviance, Scoir or similar platforms
