Simpson University, a Christ-centered institution affiliated with the Christian and Missionary Alliance, is hiring a Dean of Students to lead student development and foster healthy campus community. The role champions student success through conduct accountability, retention-focused holistic growth, and supervision of student development leaders in alignment with Simpson’s mission and values.

Задачи

  • Supervise and disciple 6+ graduate assistants serving as Residence Directors and Life Coaches with rotating Student Development specialty areas.

  • Oversee student conduct processes and restorative policy development aligned with Biblical principles; serve as primary disciplinary officer, maintain records, communicate with parents/guardians, coordinate hearing boards, and lead trainings.

  • Coordinate crisis response policies and procedures and lead/participate in crisis management efforts.

  • Ensure compliance with federal/state regulations and university policies (e.g., Title IX, FERPA, Clery Act); serve as primary Title IX coordinator for student matters.

  • Develop comprehensive training for 75+ student leaders that includes common experiences and role-specific training by supervisors.

  • Advise ASBSU and student clubs to strengthen leadership, traditions, and belonging within the student body.

  • Curate assessment data into usable dashboard graphics; edit the Student and Parent Handbooks.

  • Serve as primary contact for student parents; develop orientation and ongoing communications to involve families.

  • Serve as a Life Coach for approximately 20 freshmen annually and collaborate on delivering the first-year seminar course.

  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student leaders; support overflow needs of other departments and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Master’s degree in student affairs, leadership, higher education administration, or another master’s degree paired with mentored student affairs experience.

  • Minimum 10 years in student development (undergraduate and/or graduate experience considered); essential experience with residence life, conduct systems, Title IX, and crisis management.

  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, customer service, problem-solving, tact, diplomacy, discretion, confidentiality, and professional judgment.

  • Commitment to evidence-based practice with proficiency in budget management, data analysis, and policy development.

  • Ability to supervise employees in accordance with university policies and procedures and collaborate effectively as both team member and leader.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including being on call much of the academic year.

  • Demonstrated sensitivity to undergraduates from diverse cultural, economic, and academic backgrounds.

  • Personal relationship with Jesus Christ, vibrant Christian faith, commitment to Christian community, and ability to engage in conversations about Christ; maintain lifestyle in accordance with Simpson University Lifestyle Policy.

Exceptional (preferred, not required):

  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field (or willingness to pursue while employed).

  • 5+ years supervising full-time student affairs professionals in a Christian college setting.

  • Significant leadership experience (e.g., multi-department leadership, large budgets, crisis response teams).

  • Active member in a Christian & Missionary Alliance church; active in student affairs professional organizations.

  • Bilingual abilities; ability to relate well to collegiate parents.

  • Salary range: $71,000–$78,000 annually.

  • Flexible hours with on-call expectations much of the academic year.
